As you know I recently joined the Kioti world and have a 2002 LB1914 with 210 hours. It has the front end loader...but nothing in the back. Wondering if I could get some reccommendations as to counter weight...do I make my own, where can I get a used one? Whats best? THANKS!

Hello rob, i believe if you search the attachments post room that some members have taken plastic 55 gallon drums and cut them in half, then filling with concrete. You could put the hardware in the concrete to attach to your 3 point hitch..Just a suggestion if you dont want to spend alot of money.... Matt

Here is a pic of two weight boxes that you can fill with sand or whatever. The cost is not much from what I remember, but I don't remember how much! These attach to the 3pt. hitch. On the left is the inside, right is outside.

John, do you remember about what those boxes cost?

I use chimney blocks, filled with concrete and a 2" square tube domn the center. I use a 1 1/2" pipe stand that inserts and removes. I have 5 blocks but you can use 1 or 9. I have a generic carry all to carry all this. bcs

Box Blade, mine is on all the time. Only when I need to rake or mow does it come off and then it goes right back on! Better to put a little extra money into an implement you can use than a box full of rocks...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

P.S.- Place ballast in your rear tires also!

I would say they were under $200. I have to agree though that an implement that has another use would be a better alternative, just wanted folks to see another option.
In order to use the max lift on most loaders, a boxblade may or may not have enough weight. Mine doesn't have enough to reach the full lift potential of my FEL. But, my backhoe does! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Same here but I'm wondering if I ever could get enough weight on to reach my lift potential. I'm a little disappointed in the bucket depth on mine cause there is so much more potential. With the BB (600#) and 1000# of tire ballast I'm nearing it but still got more!

I have the same ballast box as in the pic, cost was 175.00 from my dealer, you can fit 8 50lb bags of sand in them. I like to put 6 inside and put all my tools in it as well. I carry shovel, chainsaw,chains,hooks,slings,clevis.... makes one heck of a tool box...

I personally like loaded tires, they are always with you,you don't have to put on or take off. Extra weight added to the 3ph for real heavy lifts are fine, but quite often when a quicky job pops up, those heavy tires are always there.Rear tires on my L3010 weigh 900#

I made a counter weight from an old quad tire and an axel from my former quad. Works well and serves as a wheelie bar when on steep terrain, which I have in abundance. recently purchased a box blade which also works well when attached. Nice part of the Quad tire is it does not stick out to far thus easier to manouver in close quarters.

There is no down pressure on the 3pt. I was just wondering how it works like a weelie bar?

Dosen't actually work as a weelie bar, but it does roll if it touches down rather than digging in like a weight box would.

I would go with something like a box blade and filled tires. as said earlier the tires are always there with you and a box blade is rather handy. also consider that a 55 gal drum cut in half is only going to yield you around 500 lbs and change.( that is average concrete weight of 150 per cubic ft.) Hope this helps.

I agree,a sturdy box blade and loaded tires have always served me well even with a 6 foot bucket filled with gravel beyond the brim...Mike.
