Cougar or bobcat?

My first thought was cougar, agreeing with others that it is long and it's seemingly a solid color. Either way, keep your critters in at night.

I was BSing with a DNR guy one time and I asked him why they deny that we have cougars, and he said, "I'll tell you why, if we recognize that we have them, then we have to budget money for them, and we don't have enough money to go around for each specie now."

At least, that makes some sense.

We have both where I live. That’s an interesting (but very fuzzy photo). That cat seems to have the size and body shape of a cougar, but no tail like a bobcat. Maybe a cougar that lost it’s tail in a trap?

Only problem is - it is a cougar.

you cant tell the size of the feline on the pic so my vote goes for housecat. there are like a million regular cats for every cougar or bobcat out there so odds are in my favor

Yup. Good possiblity. Like I said, nothing to scale...

If this is a game camera.....post the original non-zoomed in pic.....then post the same image with something that can be referenced for size, like a deer, or an ATV driving by.

Bobcat ~35lb animal
cougar ~200lb animal.

Kinda hard to confuse the two if we can get a feel for its size. Cause it would be like confusing a field mouse with a beaver

Here's a bobcat I outsmarted and caught in a live trap,

and NO they aren't easy to catch.

He was wet, so he looked smaller than they normally do...
