Buying Advice Cost to transport a tractor or skid steer across the country

What's the going rate these days for a hotshot truck capable of hauling one of these things? Is there a big difference between hauling a compact tractor vs a skid steer? 2500 pounds vs 8500?

I wouldn’t see it making a substantial difference. They’re usually driving at minimum a ton truck with 10 ton trailers.

It used to be around $2. Probably more now.

Just as a lark - I checked on costs about five years ago. NE WA state to central Florida. Right around $2500 for my Kubota M6040.

$1.25-1.75 last year when I was asking around, I'm sure that's going up significantly with fuel prices going back north.

i just moved a tractor its between 2 and 2.50 a mile now, cheaper if you can get it on a semi headed one way. but time windows can grow.

Hotshot probably looking at $2.50 a mile. Are you in a hurry? I had a 100hp skid steer hauled fro Pennsylvania to Texas for $1000 but I gave them a wide time window to do it when they could add it to an existing load coming this way. It took about two weeks I think to get it,

Ideally, when I or another hauler haul for someone, you want to make it a full load. If you try U-ship, you might be able to get a shared load coming from that area to your area. That helps with price somewhat.

When I moved from Virginia to California was quoted $3500 by a couple outfits. So I bought a new equipment trailer for the same price and towed it myself. Sold the trailer in California for $200 less than I paid.
