Correct Type of Engine and Hyd Fluid

See photo of Hyd Fluid and Engine Oil I put in my 8N. I'm a beginner, so before I run the tractor much with these new fluids, I want to make sure I put in the right stuff.

Engine Oil- I put in 30W oil as most people have recommended, but am not sure if it's detergent or non-detergent from the bottle. I assumed it was detergent, but now I'm not sure. Is Rotella detergent oil?

Hyd Oil- The stuff in the photo seemed to be the closest I could find to what people recommended. Is this good stuff or should I go with something else?

I have one question. Is ur tractor brand new? cause if it is u should wait a bit before using rotella oil. The exact hours i'm not sure. I use rotella for my kubota but i'm the second honor. For the hydraulic fluid....thats very close to the stuff we use on our rough terrain forklifts at work...which see more hours in a year than most machines see in a life time. We have one that has over 25 000 hours on it...all of it a hard life...although all hydraulics had to be redone at about 12 000. engine is still all original..sure dont build them like they used too

My tractor is a 1952 8N. I just bought it. Do you know if Rotella is detergent oil?

Ok i've done some reading on the rotella site. Now if u mean by a "detergent oil" that it contains detergents then it does. But apparently it says all oils contain detergents. Now this could all just be bull to try and sell their product, but aparently they use an all calcium detergent as apposed to the magnesium detergents found in most other brands which tends to cause more damage over time. Hope thats what you meant. If not let me know i'll see if i can figure something out for yah

What is the EP rating on that hytran oil. It looks like it is a 90wt oil.. which is about right. However, look it over.. Ideally it should be gl-1 as gl-4 and 5 may have too many sulfur compounds which may not be kind to yellow metal.

I always use Pennzoil 30W in both of my 8N's and never had any oil consumption problems. It is a deteregent oil.

90 WT gear lube for the hydraulics, generic 5 gallon cans.

8N's are wonderful machines. Heaven knows how many of them are still working today and they quit building them about 1952.

Search on "Ford 8N " and you will find hundreds of links for 8N sites.

Andre - Why should Rotella NOT be used on a new Tractor?

I am about ready to perform the 50 hour service on my B7610 and was planning on using Rotella 15W-40. Now I'm wondering if I should?

OOps forgot to say the synthetic...sorry i use synthetic in mine so u cant start off using synthetic oil on a brand new tractor. Has to be broken in first. I dont believe this oil is synthetic though..dont know for sure
