Com'n guys! Please let's be civil and play by the rules. Let's keep this thread going...

For some of us this has hit very close to home. I had a business associate's brother die a couple days ago. A 41 year old city transit driver. My wife's niece is in New York City and her room mate's friend is in trouble. In her thirties. A lot to discuss and debate but can we please keep the insults, and other thread closing tactics out of here? Facts and intelligent thoughts and some humor of course.

Maine coronavirus: Armed vigilantes blocked a neighbor's driveway with a tree to force him into quarantine - CNN

"A Maine man said armed neighbors descended on his home and chopped down a tree to block his road and prevent him from leaving because they believed he may have coronavirus.

The Vinalhaven resident said he went outside Friday to check why his cable service wasn't working and found a tree blocking the end of his road, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
"While investigating the downed tree, a neighbor started yelling at him and a group of people showed up and began to gather around. Believing the group may be there to harm him, (he) fled to his residence and told his roommates what he had found," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.
The three roommates stayed in the home, where they used a VHF radio to contact the Coast Guard for assistance and a drone to monitor the group's activity, the sheriff's office said. Vinalhaven is an island town.

When law enforcement arrived, the group had fled and it was "apparent" that a tree had been cut down and dragged to block the road, the sheriff's office said.

Officers learned that some residents believed the roommates needed to be quarantined. None of the roommates, who were from New Jersey and were renting a home in Vinalhaven while working a construction job since September, showed symptoms consistent with Covid-19, deputies said.

The residents had been on the island for nearly a month before the incident took place. ..."

FDA Says Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine Can Be Used to Treat Coronavirus

I'm not sure if this is good or bad.
Both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are used to treat diseases including malaria, and have "shown activity in laboratory studies against coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19)," the HHS stated.

It's also used to treat Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis, and some patients have been having problems getting drugs to treat those diseases.
I wonder if there have been any data collected about how people who already are taking these drugs are handling CV-19.

The local newspapers correctly and consistently refer to his driveway as a driveway. Your news source titled the story using the Same correct word driveway, and could not make it one sentence in their changed story. Sentence one, they changed it to road, and repeated it. No mention of length, number of houses, or anything.
I am not surprised. This is a small example of what they do everyday. Road certainly sounds bigger than driveway.

Don't you have anything better to do this morning?

A driveway (also called drive in UK English) is a type of private road for local access to one or a small group of structures, and is owned and maintained by an individual or group.

A local friend of ours suggested instead of demonizing the "domestic immigrants" in our towns,
we offer to help them with shopping, fuel etc., so they don't have to go out and potentially spread the virus.
It's a win/win. They stay safely ensconced and we get to be good neighbors. Worth a thought.

My neighbor had been doing really well. Wiping surfaces and such. Minimizing trips to town. He even sprayed himself with Lysol before going to Walmart...not sure that is effective...but he is (was) trying.

Then he got a call from an old buddy who lives in Detroit (MI is fourth highest in deaths). His buddy came up for one day....WTF!!!!

Yesterday my neighbor calls and want us to come over but I told him why we could not. He said he had cleaned extensively so we should be safe. I told him we would wait 2 weeks to see how things panned out. He wants to come over Thursday and visit on the porch...that may work.

Why he allowed his buddy to come up and possibly spread the virus makes no sense. People do stupid things!!! This is how the virus will spread to every corner of the country. It is inevitable.

My fiancé keeps asking if we need to go into town to get anything...she is getting antsy. I told her I do not need anything...what does she need. She has a couple of non-essential things on her list. I am not surprised, as we have over 3 months of supplies prepped.

Last night she talked about organizing a bible study with another one or two couples from church. One husband works for FedEx as a route driver. Not the best job to keep yourself virus free.

She is smart but seems to lack common sense.

Have her check out that ZOOM app that allows for teleconferencing with multiple people. She could do her bible study face-to-face with multiple parties, still interact with all of them simultaneously, yet not be in close proximity to them.

I saw something on CBS this morning from James Corden. He's suggesting to stop calling it social distancing and call it physical distancing. We can remain socially active without having to be physically near each other. I like that term better. Social distancing sounds like becoming reclusive.

I was amazed how clueless the Food Lion employees were about six feet.
Twice this morning they got right up next to me to stock a shelf or do something.
When I politely mentioned six feet please I got a look of huh? Seems lots of folks lack common sense.

made my last trip downtown for awhile, even found a package of hamburger in the store, there was just one.
I thought about how many people had touched that container...
I kept a package of chicken and that hamburger in the plastic carry bag and promptly froze them.
Could someone confirm that freezing kills this stuff?

Thanks MossDriveway for that info.

Just stay spaced out.

Just stay spaced out.

Depends on the activity. I just read a story about a church choir that decided to hold a practice a few weeks ago. They stayed apart. No one was coughing or exhibiting any signs of illness. However, a bunch of people singing emits a ton of droplets into the air. A bunch of them got sick now, and two have died.

So just staying spaced out might not be enough.

Freezing will not kill it.Wipe the packages down with wipes.
