Corn on the Cob Anyone?

I have never heard or seen that done before. Just goes to show that when you think that you have seen it all, there is always a better "mouse trap" out there waiting to be invented. Good job. The man in the video seems like a nice gentleman.:)

Bird did you consider it cooked after doing the microwave cleaning or did you then cook it? I never did get clear on that with the video.

Opps, Bird had the answer before I submitted my post.

We have been doing corn in the microwave, but not shucking it like that. showed my wife and she is ready to try it...

Well, I'm dyin' to try that, Bird. What I want to try is when I cut the end off and before I shake it out, I'll pour some butter in the cut end and let it run down inside the shuck. Then when I pop the shuck off, I just have to sprinkle on salt, pepper, or nothing. It may not work, but it's worth a try. I've always wanted corn buttered in the shuck like peanuts salted in the shell.:licking:

Hmmm, well if my corn ever decides to grow next year...ill have to try that. For some reason all our corn only grew 3-4' tall with super small ears this year. It was a super wet spring, and just messed up everything. Even the store bought corn cobs suck this year, and there trying to get $0.75 per ear on top of that. So for now ill stick to canned corn and hope for next summers crop.

Jim, that'll be an interesting experiment. My guess is that the shucks are snug enough around the corn that the butter won't have room to run down the ear of corn, but I could very well be wrong.

I keep thinking that someday I'm going to remember to find and buy a long narrow dish, kinda like the ones used for banana splits in the days when glass was used instead of disposable containers so I can just melt a little butter and roll the ear of corn in it. Of course you can use bigger dishes, but waste too much butter, or at least I do when I try that.

So for the time being I just spread the butter on the corn with a knife. But my hillbilly wife puts her butter on a slice of bread then rubs it on the corn.

That's pretty cool Bird, gotta try that (now if I can just remember until we have some corn!)

Maybe we need a thread titled, "How do you butter your corn?"

I always use a fork to spread the butter because the butter squishes up in the tines and doesn't slide off like it does with a knife. While I'm doing that, my wife takes a 1/4 lb of butter and puts it out on a butter dish and rolls her corn in it. I have to admit, that's an effective method, but I don't think I waste as much butter.:D
