The drain cock for coolant on the block of my New Holland tractor corroded and broke off. I cleaned the mess up and chased the threads with a 3/4 in pipe tap. I replaced it with a 3/4 to 1/2 brass bushing with a 1/2 brass plug in it to drain it with. Is there any problem using brass in the block with electrolosis type corrosion due to dissimilar metals? If not, I like my new set up better than the original.
Thanks for input

Maybe put some teflon tape on the threads?

Yes Sir
Put Teflon tape on all joints so that should help but I just wanted to make sure that there is no dissimilar metals problem

There's no problem using brass fittings on the block, just put sealant on the threads.

they make a thread treatment to prevent any problems with dissimilar metal.. however I'd seldom had problems with brass plugs into cast iron ..

Thanks for the input folks. I put plenty of teflon tape on it so now I feel confident with the repair.
