The waning Super Blue Moon.

The full moon is amazing, but it is rather flat and boring.

The moon does not give off any light. If it did, it would always be full. When we get a full moon, it's because the sunlight is hitting it directly. When you see the moon in different phases it's because the light from the sun is hitting it at different angles.

When the light hits the surface at an angle, that's when you start to see the contrast of the moon's surface.

Not sure when that changed. Been living in Nevada for 50+ years now and all the seismographs were in mine shafts - with something that looked like a TV antenna sitting above the entrance. Don't see those much anymore. Now they are all like what you see in the pic I posted. Got one on a ridge about a mile from my house. The one in the pic is about 20 miles away.

New technology, I guess.
