Picked up a used 100 gallon transfer tank with a 12v pump, which had been used for Unleaded fuel - plan is to use it for diesel.

Drained the Unleaded gas and aired out the tank for a few days.

Put about a gallon of off-road diesel in, rinsed it around well and drained the tank.

Removed the original gas filter and removed the hose and drained the remaining gas from it.

Put it all back together and replaced the filter with a new diesel fuel water/particulate filter.

Only item remaining is picking away at a large - seriously stuck on - reflective "Unleaded Gas Only" decal which is coming off in tiny 1/4 inch pieces.

Kindly interested from the TBN Brain Trust if there is anything else needing to be done before using the tank for diesel???

No. Did you try heating up the sticker with a heat gun or hair dryer and peel it at the same time.....

Thank you Mr. Peter...I ran out of daylight today.

I'll give that a go and see if it helps. It's seriously stuck on!

One other question...

Planning on powering the 12v pump from the tractor battery.

Thinking about permanently extending the 12v and ground from the battery under the hood to a safe convenient point near the operator station using a standard SAE 2 wire connector or a battery extension cable from like Noco or Batteryminder.

Then use a 10 or 12 foot extension cable with the same 2 wire plug design to run to the 12 volt pump.

I've also got the original fuse assembly to put in line in the 12v positive path.

Has anybody done this with a set of plugs and an extension that works conveniently?

How about putting a diesel sticker over the gas sticker? Jon

I would be careful, there could still be gas vapour in the tank, and you do not want that going off. This side of the pond, you need a licence to `store` gas, and if you change from gas to diesel, the gas has to be emptied, the tank cleaned and then purged of vapour. A short cut the farmers would use, was to empty the tank, then fill it to the very top with diesel, then away you go. I would not use any heat to get that sticker off, Some farmer used to leave their gas signs on. If someone comes and steals some of you `gas`, you`ll know who it was, it`ll be the car that stopped about half a mile down the road.

Mr. Denchen, I have considered your suggestion...leave as is...

I recall someone on TBN saying they purposely swapped their diesel and Unleaded gas stickers on their storage tanks.

Instant karma for a would-be thief.

Mr. (removed), hadn't thought about the Anderson connector, though after your mention, I recall seeing it a few years ago used by service trucks to make it easy when jump starting other vehicles. Thank you!

Yup.....I would have simply removed the sticker, drained the gas out, and filled the tank with diesel.
