Hello,

I have CornPro 14K lbs equipment trailer that has Dexter Torsion Flex axles. Has anyone ever converted their hubs over to the ez-lube system? The ez-lube axle has a hole drilled in it for grease to flow into the bearings.

Any info would be much appericated.

If you are planning to drill the spindle out then drill a grease hole do not do it. They are hardened. I simply put Buddy Bearings on my 18' car haul trailer like you would have on a boat. Cheap and easy solution. Cost about $20 per set. Just do not over-grease them.

I think you mean "Bearing Buddies"

Vise Grips, adjustable pliers. Kleenex, facial tissue. Reese Hitch, ect. That is the brand name of one company that is a big manufacture of them. I have them on many many trailers under 10 plus names. You get the point.

EZ Lube and Bearing Buddies are two different concepts for two different tasks. One keeps the water out and the other flushes the old grease out the front while lubing the bearings from the inside race outwards.

The more desired conversion for the 14K trailer would be going to oil filled hubs.

Yep. Should have figured on the copy cat concept of marketing. Usually, people go with what they have heard of, or have seen the most. And David is correct, the oil bath is definately the best.

I agree with the oil bath. I never think of it because 9 out of 10 trailers I deal with are boat trailers and they have not made there way to them yet.

Do love the disc brakes the last 5 year or so. I will never own drums again if I can help it.

I read about the bearing buddies. My concern is the grease never reaches the in board bearing. The ez-lube greases from inboard out, flushing out old grease.... as someone mentioned.

Looks like I may just clean and pack the old fashioned way.

It will push the grease thought the outer bearing to the inner. If over greased it will push out the seals.

The key to not blowing the seals in the Ez-lube system is folowing the instructions by jacking the wheel up and spinning the wheel while pumping the grease in. A different colored , compatible grease helps as you can see the change as the grease is exchanged.
