Converting 1 acre old septic leach field. Should I leave it in place or remove it?

I would not be concerned with it. If anything, bring in topsoil and build the level up.

I'm planning on running the tiller over the top 2" to get rid of the grass. Then bring in a ton of compost and till that in no more than 6" and be done with it. I'll probably use a bedder on the 1025R as well.

Wondering about the irrigation aspect of the old system, 20" down. How much water would it take to flood system and have water migrate up, and what kind of supply of water is necessary and capacity? Would water supply from a home be enough, or are we talking stream or equivalent?

How is this field doing since early spring? Just curious if you have left it idle and mowing, or if using the tiller to work it up.
