I am considering the purchase of a new tractor. At this point I have about 30-35 acres to bush hog, need to move round hay bales. With a new tractor I'm sure other uses will develop and I may want to add implements; at this point my budget is for the tractor only.

I am considering a tractor from the JD 4000 series. I would appreciate input about which tractor I need and/ or your experience with a particuliar tractor from this series.

Thank you for your help.

I don't know what kind of hay bales you're talking about but up to the 4400 the most lift cap. you can get is 1258 lbs at pivot point with the 430 ldr. If you go up to the 4500 - 4700 you can put on the 460 ldr and it's lift cap. is 2325 lbs at pivot point. I hope tis helps.

have you considered other heavier tractors? my kioti dk 35 handles round bales just fine and costs alot less than the jd 4000 series. i have 66 hours on my dk 35 and not a problem. with the money you would spend on a jd 4300 you could buy a dk45 with loader and have hyd remotes, draft control, folding rop, and alot more. do a search on kioti tractors and see for your self. take care and good luck. i really had a good time when i was looking for a tractor.
