Buy the B2601. The BX might make for a better mower, provided you have tight spaces to navigate, but it is inferior in every other regard. The BX line also has questionable engineering in many areas, and reliability suffers as a result. The BX line is applicable for those that absolutely can't fit anything bigger, but is a mistake for those who can - which is why there are so many available used. Buy the B2601 and don't think about it for another second. Don't underestimate the importance of a position-control 3pt, BTW - inching valve is all but useless except for full-up and full-down implements. If you're big worry is side-hilling on that one slope with the B, get all 4 tires loaded - it'll stick like glue.

Not seeking to stir the pot, as they say, but this critique doesn't square with this 10 year BX owner's experience at all. Many, many BX's out there, expect overwhelming majority of owners find them hard-working and reliable.

I agree. A bx2670-1 with 26 hp . .670 pound fel lifting and 3pt capabilities is not a toy . . just because it sits closer to gravity (but still 9 inch clearance). If "big" was the only quantifier . . Corvettes would never have been sonsidered a prized car or bmw or . . . .

No worries.. everyone has valuable opinions. As I posted last night in another thread with someone who has a similar situation, I am actually leaning towards the BX25D. Because it's ~$6K cheaper in a similar config. Ultimately, I can live with doing things slower as I will be in no hurry. The money can go towards implements or something else.

My quote on the BX25D is $17598 + Tax (but no tax for me as I am in Oregon)
1. Cash purchase to take advantage of $700 CIR
2. Adding a Box Scrapper ($599) to get the "2nd implement" discount of $1000
3. 12" BH bucket with thumb
4. 3 point hitch
5. Tires filled
6. Delivery

That seems like a great price, you are not receiving a mower with it? I'm a trading my b2620 with BH, mmm and FEL for a bx2670-1 with a few accessories since I don't use the backhoe anymore. Believe the BX will be a better mower than the B2620.

not going to get a mower yet. I have way too much cleanup to do on the property before there is anything to mow. Probably at least a year away for that.

Hi Bill...I am in the typical BX vs B quandary. Most of my mowing is "fields and trails" rather than "lawn". Quality of the cut is not the primary feature...but I would like "reasonable" evenness and also need grass clippings to "clear" the mower well as I tend to mow when pretty/very long. Worked well with 42" 2 blade with the chute up and the grass/weeds DRY. BTW...the 60" deck on the BX I borrowed from the dealer (see below) DID throw out the clippings really well...but they were VERY dry.

Also important is ease of taking the mower off and putting back on as I likely will take off more often than I would like.

I had a dealer loaner BX 23xx for a weekend and mowed last years dead grass for a couple of hours. 60" deck worked great and the diesel is really pleasant power. It was VERY tough ride on my fields...but part may have been mowing in "High" and going a bit too feast...a problem the 42" did not have because it did not go that fast :)

Would be really helpful if you described your B mowing experience as well as deck removal/install...and any other comments regarding BX vs B. I anticipate 80-90% mowing (currently) but it is the other portion of "work" on my land (120 acres) and desire to probably wander off trail into the brush/woods that leads me to the higher clearance of the B series. My other choice may be to buy another $2,000 42"-48" and not buy the Kubota mower...but that would reduce my hours on the Kubota significantly and may cause me not to buy one at all as I am somewhat unsure how much I will use the "tractor" features.

If mowing was dramatically poorer/harder with the B I could change back to BX...but then it would probably be an expensive mower...primarily.

Sorry if I am confused...I try too hard to make the perfect choice. I joked with the dealer if he rec'd a used B with 60" deck I could borrow and answer the other half of my questions...Thanks...Tom R

I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed. I also don't think you will feel like the job is going too slow because you will be having fun!
