Confused about Hydraulic filters

I have about a gallon of udt left over from my front axle oil change so I was only going to buy 4 gal. of oil and use my left over to top off. The book says it should take 4.2 gal. so thats the reason for me to question the mixing of both oils. Now have to save my pennies. Over $130 this round for maintenance.
Have to pay to play.

The book on my B2320 said 4 gals but when I changed it I was only able to add about 3 gals till it was topped off.
