Compresion Release

I do not know if all 336's have the compression release, but they probably do. What you can do is find on the valve covers a lever and trace that back to the dash through linkages or cable to find where it is there. When you are dealing with an older tractor frequently things have been "modified."

Thanks Mike. I don't know if the tractor is old for the model or not it is supposed to be a 89 but I don't know for sure. Just know there is nothing in the vincitiy of the comperssion release shown in the manual. No problem starting up though. I'll see what I find on the valve cover and workbackwards from there.

Thanks again.

It will look like a lever on a shaft sticking into the valve cover. Should be easy to see and identify. You should even be able to move it and feel if it is working and see what happens on the dash side of things. :D

Your right the compression release is on the valve cover. however that is the only part of it that is there. Everything else is missing. See pict. Can this be replaced with a manual chock cable or is it a bit more sophistcated than that.???
