Complete steering failure - F14D

I've been away from the Frum for a while, but a major issue has brought me back.

My steering started to feel notch,lumpy through the wheel a few weeks ago and today totally failed. The steering wheel snow turns freely with no effect on the wheels. Used the independent brakes to cajole the old girl back to the garage.

Assuming something has failed in the steering box, so I'll have to strip it down, but any suggestions what may have failed?

I know a good many of the F series have power steering. If yours does then I suppose it could be in that part.
