Compact Excavator

Is anyone familiar with a Hitachi ex33 compact excavator . Is this a grey market machine and if so are parts available. Whats your opinion. Thanks Harmon T

My opinion call Hitachi dealer and ask them. That way you know for sure, and what the deal for parts will be. If it is a off shore and no easy parts I wouldn't touch it unless it is dirt cheap. All parts for excavators are a lot of money. The last thing you want to hear is parts are hard to find and twice as much. When you are broke down you want the parts now. IMHO being able to buy parts without hassle is very important.

If this helps,I had a friend with a grey EX55. He got parts from a local Hitachi dealer. He was lucky because there was a US model that was the same. Yanmar grey parts for same US model are easy, I have had one. Kobelco are a little tougher. You have to " borrow" a US serial number from a like US model and then they are no trouble. My grey experience has been mostly positive so far.

Nobull1 and Kayssupply, Thanks for the response. I believe I will look for a Bobcat model or other brands that have local parts supplier. My intentions or to sell my Case 580SE and purchase a compact excavator. 95% of my digging is less than 4 feet and own a 753 skid for backfilling. Hope this will prove to be a good decision.
