Remember my brother begging Mom to make some ice tea; it was hot and it sounded good. He said, "I'm so hot, my lips are all peached and cracked and every thing". He of course, meant "Parched".
I had to look that up. But it turns out, the Bellamy salute was the way it was originally done. I had never heard of that before now.Hand over heart was one late change. This is how I did it at school post WWII. We must have been late for the change.

'I could care less' is a contraction of, 'It's possible that I could care less, but i haven't found a particular instance of something i care less of.' At least that's what i tell people if they sit still long enough to hear my explication, and that's on them.This one really gets my goat for some reason; I never could understand why people use it in this context.
In essence they are saying the exact opposite of what they mean.
