Common sayings that are wrong or butchered

I had to look that up. But it turns out, the Bellamy salute was the way it was originally done. I had never heard of that before now.

My pet peeve is folks who use an apostrophe incorrectly in plurals. "Tacoma's" instead of Tacomas, for example.

My wife says discerning when she is trying to say disconcerting. I don't correct her.

When we were dating, she is from an ultra religious and conservative family. they would never swear or make any kind of lude remark. One day she called me a ***** and her dad also called people that. I said, do you know what that means? She said it's nothing bad and when I told her she was horrified. I said I'll let you tell your dad.

This one really gets my goat for some reason; I never could understand why people use it in this context.
In essence they are saying the exact opposite of what they mean.

'I could care less' is a contraction of, 'It's possible that I could care less, but i haven't found a particular instance of something i care less of.' At least that's what i tell people if they sit still long enough to hear my explication, and that's on them.
