Comfortable RPM for CUT/SCUT

What RPM do you run your diesel tractor when you are doing general chores, like hauling dirt in the bucket, and spreading gravel? I like to run 1600-1700, still plenty of power, and fairly quiet, compared to the 2430 RPM when the rotary cutter is in use. It seems to sip diesel very slowly at 1600-1700.

It depends on the power output I need. Usually around 1500/2000 rpm

My Branson is supposed to be run between 2000 and 2500 to keep the DPF happy. They put a green band from 2000-2500 on the tach. Most of the non-PTO time when I don't need power I'm at 2000. Sometimes I'll use less when I am working around another person and want keep the noise down. When I'm driving around I leave the throttle at idle and let the linked HST up the rpms.

It is strictly dependent upon the power needs. Running around - moving big rock or chunk of pine tree in the grapple - - around 1650 - maybe up to 1850. Running the pto chipper - takes 2250 to get 540. Ditching with my heavy duty rear blade - sometimes up to 2200 to 2400. I have never found a reason to "red line" the engine at 2600.

My M6040 is 2009 - - so it is Tier 3.

Depends on the power needs. If the PTO is running, then 2150 to 2200. Other chores 1700 or more. Driving around about 1600 to 1700. Mine has a DPF, so I know they say to run 2000 to 2200, but I don't always run that high.

I have about 500 hours on my 2013 B2920. Most of those hours have been operating a flail mower at wide-open throttle. Slightly past peak 540 PTO red mark...as far as the throttle will go. Same thing for cutting grass with the 60" belly mower. For loader work, usually 2200RPM or so...the loader works much quicker with RPM.

My TC 33 has a sweet spot at 1500 to 1700 rpm. I usually run it like that for loader work and general putting around. About 1900 to 2000 when running the tiller.
