"All hat and no cattle," a western phrase for someone that is pretentious.

"Its been Ricky-ed," or "Ricky, was here." A new way of saying its been Jerry Rigged, altered, but not done well.

"Hi Hon," Short for honey, a standard greeting, but only used addressing men to women or women to men, or women to women: Never men to men.
Always liked the Hat one....

" It's raining cats and dogs ". The way it was explained to me. A long time ago a lot of homes had thatched roofs. The mice would live in the roofs. Occasionally a cat or cats would get on the roof to hunt mice and then a dog or two would get on the roof to chase the cats. TaDa.

" Dead Nuts " This term is used to describe something that is precise, exact, completely accurate, right on.

I know there are probably hundreds of machinists on this web site and they have seen this drawing symbol on many drawings.

Below is what it looks like.

I have always liked the saying "Finer than a frog's hair". And another is "If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its butt.". A big favorite for me is "frog pelts", which is another way of saying "green backs", which of course refers to American money. I still say frog pelts to folks and they don't know what I am talking about so it must be a relatively rare saying, or maybe just a regional saying. But I think the meaning would be obvious to an American because our paper currency has not really changed for many decades which is why "green backs" is still understood by nearly every American over the age of 30.

I've got one that is likely very local. If something is "skookum" , that item is extremely strong or robust. Even around here, most people would be unlikely to have heard this one.
Skookum is the best.realgood top drawer. If a guy is running a bunch of junk on a logging show or rinky dink substandard activity. “That ain’t quite skookum”
