Cold Weather Starting

Next week we are supposed to be in the teens for a few days. Just my luck I have to head back to la I think. 1850 is a cold blooded beast but has never let me down. One day I a m going to pull a Ken and add glow plugs...

Yikes, that's cold for around here. Better get the charger on the batteries and plug in the heat tapes.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it as well, but it looks now to be a clear cold so no iced roads...

Getting a loud backfire out of the muffler when trying to start. It has been in the 20's and 30's this week. What is causing the backfire? I had the valves set not too long ago. The last three days it has done this every time I have tried to start.
