I have a 3054. I put a Kats heater on it last week. Had it plugged in over night. 16 degrees this morning, had to plow snow. The engine and radiator were warm to the touch. It started like it was hot.
The heater came from Tractor Supply. It was $23. 1 1/2 inch hose diameter and red in color. On my tractor there is not much length between the engine and the radiator for the bottom hose. And it fit just fine. Red in color.
Heres what I got on ebay now. But I paid less at TSC... CLICK ME
It was hot. I usually use my heater for an hour if the temps' above 20* and two hours if its' below 0*, which it has been quite often this winter. If it's much below 0* I still have to go back to the glow plugs for maybe 5 sec. to smooth the engine out, but this is a huge improvement over what it was without the heater. I honestly don't think you would get my 3054 started in 0 degree temps without a heater, no matter how long you used the glow plugs
Welcome to Maine. Its been a good cold winter...many nights below 0. I had to install a block heater last year (it was alot warmer of a fall/winter) which helped somewhat. What really made the difference was changing the brushes and turning the starter armature. My old case cranked at least twice as fast and drew alot less juice.
Snowed alot this year, in fact another foot predicted today. Parked my old 4x4 out by the woods..... don't think Ill see it till summer
