I have an early 70's alice chalmers 712 hydro that the mechanical clutch went south. The spring was broken and the brass bushing inside was completely gone. I bought another off e-bay and put it on. I mowed my yard 1 time, and the crazy thing would not disengage. I took it apart again, and again, the spring was smashed down, the brass bushing is there but appears to have spun on the shaft. This is getting awful expensive, what can I do to fix this ???
I was looking at the shaft that runs the nclutch on one side and belt drive on the other, and I think I will have to replace it due to the shaft doesnt look to good. Does anyone know where I can get parts for this ? I have called and emailed places, but they tell me that the tractor is too old. Please help....
