My Ford transmission has a dip stick just like the engine oil. The rear end, where the hydraulic pump and reservoir are located, has a plug on the side. When you remove the plug, oil runs out if at the correct level.

Manner of checking fluid varies greatly among various tractor brands as well as by model and year. That is why the owner's manual is so important.

Some have a dipstick on top. I assume since you are asking yours does not
. Generally, there is a drain plug, a side nipple, and a fill cap. Unscrew the nipple from the side of the housing. On a lot of fords, I think it is a 1/4. If fluid runs out, it is full. If not, pour through the top until it does.
