Clutch 4510 Mahindra

My 2004 Mahindra 4510, cab 4 wheel drive cab tractor recently barely had enough power to get up the hill while mowing. Actually the engine has plenty of power so I think it could be the clutch. It only has 1070 hours on it but I bought it used at around 900.
I have not tried to adjust it yet for freeplay. I did the old mechanic trick of putting it in high gear against a large tree, I had heard if the clutch was slipping that it would not stall when doing that. I tried twice and it stalled immediately both times.

I would think 1100 hours would be low for a clutch but have no idea how it was used before, mine is mowing but in thick stuff.

Another question any idea what it would cost at a dealer to have a new clutch installed, to separte the tractor with a cab appears to be more of a project than I want to tackle.

Also the nearest Mahindra dealer is over 40 miles away, I have a New Holland and John Deere dealer less than 10. I could road it there otherwise I would have to load it on my trailer. Thoughts on that. Thanks

Have you tried to adjust the clutch first ?

It cold be out of adjustment

I agree with Ernie, try to adjust it. There might be more life left in it. If it needs to be replaced and you have a Mahindra dealer within an hour, I think I'd take it to your Mahindra dealer for the repair.

The clutch itself I am told was not the problem but the pressure plate release springs did not do so uniformly and caused uneven wear on the same. Awaiting parts and prices.

Pull back the floor mat and pull the three rubber plugs, give the hidden fittings a shot of grease and see if it engages better, sounds like the rod might be hanging up, you should get more than 2,000 hours out of that friction setup if you keep your foot off the pedal and use the right gear for the task.

I have greased those fittings although it was not easy. I do not know if the prior owner did though. I only put on perhaps 100 hours, the prior owner over 800 so I think the damage was done before I got it.
I greased, changed all oils and fluids, all filters etc. before I ever put it into service. I bought it right however so such is life.

Just an update. This summer while the tractor was running but in neutral it developed a very loud squeal. I turned the tractor off and then restarted it. The noise was gone and it never happened again but some hours later it developed "clutch" problems. The clutch itself was not really bad but the pressure plate fingers, 2 of the 3 spring/projections were worn down badly.
Thoughts/remedies etc. Thanks

Make sure you check the pilot shaft bushing/bearing. And if the clutch fingers are worn down badly, that is generally from the TO bearing riding on them due to improper use (riding the clutch) or improper adjustment of the clutch (no freeplay). Of course we would expect it to wear symetrically.
