Closing valve in hydraulic curcuit, JD4410, why?

In the back of my JD4100, there are a hydraulic line with a suction filter originally. (In the manual). But someone who owned the tractor earlier has replaced it with a electric 2-way valve. When i activate the valve by a not original mounted switch, i can hear the engine is working harder, due to the closed hydraulic curcuit. When i use the hydraulic, as the lifting arms, the engine is working easyer again.

So what is the purpose of the valve? I would like to remove it, as my hydraulic sylinder runs into it when lifting equipment all the way up.

Is there a third SCV valve that controls the top arm hyd. cylinder?

If so, that valve may have been placed there to divert the third SCV valve to operate a different hyd. cylinder, such as for a grapple on the FEL (or some other use for another hyd. cylinder).

There is an own leveler that controls the top arm hyd sylinder. Connected to the two outlets in the right of the picture.

The strange thing is that the valve on the picture is closing the curcuit, instead of diverting it to somewhere else...? Or do i misunderstand this completely?

By the way, i am thinking of bying an electric diverter 6-2 valve to have an extra cylinder moving the angle of a back-mounted snow blade. I will then have a snow-blower in front, and blade(what is it called??) in the back.

Maybe previous owner removed some hyd. lines and re-hooked the remaining ones wrong. Do not really know.

We call the blade in the back.. a back blade.

We'll be interested in how you further track down the problem.

Last owner did not know what the valve was, so i really dont know....
Do the 4410 have open center?

I am also trying to get a block heater with 230v. All i find is with 110V

There are no other ports on that valve body? If no then I can see no reason for it whatsoever. In fact if left closed damage to the pump or overheating the fluid can easily result.
Your 4410 is indeed Open Center.
That line is what's called the "power beyond" line, I would restore it and eliminate that valve if it was my machine.

There are 2 ports that are blinded. Looks like they have never been in use...

It is possible that two hoses could be hooked to those ports, and then to a cylinder to control it. Any part numbers on the valve?

There is a free parts book on the JD web site .
It does appear that the hydraulic system is being dead headed with this additional valve. As previously stated something wll eventually become over heated and ruined in the current configuration .
Usually Deere lists 240V block and transmission heaters .
Philips and Tembro list every size , shape, voltage and wattage of both oil and water heaters .
