Clogged Valve Stems

My ATVs are getting old and the tires slowly leak air -- especially when they sit unused for a few weeks. I have had success in the past with sealants or fix-a-flat. Last time I added a little fix-a-flat the valve got clogged and now I can't put air into the tire. Is there an easy way to clean these out and open the airway?

Rather than trying to clean it - just remove the old core and replace with a new one. The removal process will clean the stem and the new core will, once again, seal in the air.
