Bungals fan here, I think the Browns are better off. We need a complete rebuild.

Im a life long Browns fan. When I moved to Michigan last year all my friends laughed because its the one area with a worse team. Thankfully I can still listen to the games on Sirius radio.

Does my profile photo answer your question?

I'm a long time Steelers fan (since I was old enough to care), but since living in Cleveland a few years back I've been impressed with the Browns' fans. They truly do seem to have the most loyal fans in the NFL. Thought it was a real slap in the face when they moved the team to Baltimore, but the fans hung on like they are now.
Some of them are starting to act badly now though, a little vengeful if you know what I mean.

I hope they start winning soon before they go off the deep end.

Just ran across a short YouTube trivia on the Steelers and Packers before the big game.
Thought it was or might be of interest to the TBN members, and apologize if it is messing with the Cleveland Browns thread. They've been known to beat the Packers :)

YouTube - Rachel Maddow- Green Bay Packers- Cheeseheads of the people

What I did not know was that the Steelers emblem was only on one side of the helmet. What I did know was that the Browns are the only team without an emblem on the side of their helmets......:)

Logdog: Are the Detroit media as hard on the Lions as the Cleveland media are on the Browns? The weekly second-guessing is frequently over the top, I think, ("Fourth and goal from the three, and they tried it? - bad play calling" then "fourth and goal from the three, and they kicked? - bad play calling"), but I guess they get as frustrated as we do.

Smstonypoint: I've never been a big B-Ball fan, but I hate to see the "hometown" team do badly. Besides, the Browns take everything I've got.:)

In my experiences the media has been very optimistic about the Lions. Everybody seems happy they seem to be turning around and after the 0-16 season a couple of years ago I think the standards are lower. Watching the games it seems like the Lions are young and are trying. The Browns......well there are times it felt like they werent trying and I think that is what gets people riled up.

There really are alot of similarities between the Browns and Lions. When watching the games you get moments of brilliance followed by 3 1/2 quarters of misery. They both run through quarterbacks like bacon on a breakfast buffett. They both have been "rebuilding" since the 50's. They both leave me wondering why I even bother watching the games.

That was true in the past. We had a lost of seasons where they only played the first half, and quit for the second half. But, it was really not the case here the last 4 games last season, and all but the end of this season.

Though the Browns lost a lot of games, we had a team that was progressively putting in a longer effort each week. this year they actually played 4 quarters most of the time.

With the exception of 2 games, we did not lose any game by more than 10 points, some were much closer. Many were decided at the end, rather than in the first half. That was an improvement. One of the two games they lost by more than ten, was the last game, where what was left of the team did not show up at all.

The insiders claimed to have known Mangini was leaving before the end of this season. So, the team started to give up the last few games.

Since the ownership insists on playing musical chairs with the staff, I do not expect much other than a team that at least shows up for the game right now.

I don't see how they will ever get a good team, and a good staff, when most of them are shown the door every 2 years. Several coaches were bright enough to turn down the offers to interview here. Because, they know it is very likely a temporary position, that will leave them with a losing record.

How would you put together a viable team, when you get to the point no one wants to come here?

Amen on the "revolving door" situation. To me, that has been the biggest reason for the inconsistancy. For too long, the best coach (and QB, for that matter) is the next coach (and QB). Holmgren has said some things at the end of the season that indicate he understands that. I hope that's true. I thought Mangini was worth another year, even with the 5-11 record.

I have never been a Browns fan because they were beating the cowboys out of the playoffs before there was any such thing as a super bowl.

There is a young man by the name of Colt McCoy out of Tuscola, TX, a small Texas town that plays 2A football. I am a 2A fan myself (Gunter, TX) and so I followed this young man as he set several 2A passing records and took his team to the state finals (there are I think 211 class 2A teams playing football in Texas).

Not may 2A kids end up in division I college football, but he was recruited by the Texas longhorns and ended up a 4 year starter, set all the UT passing records, then was drafted in the 3rd round by the Browns.

The Browns gave McCoy a shot and he did well considering he is a rookie. I think he had maybe 6 starts in his rookie year. So now I am in fact a Browns fan, I hope this fine Christian young man has a great career.

I don't see why they fired Mangini - he seemed to be improving this team.

I think McCoy did well and has a future here. I'm anxious to see how he does in his second year, under the "new" system, with new coaches.
