I once watched a plumber open a shower drain with an air blast plunger.

I've used the Harbor Freight power plunger to clean some drains that I couldn't otherwise clear. You just want to fill it with water and then work the clog back and forth hydraulically to clear it. It isn't expensive. Might just be helpful to have.

You can do the same thing as a power plunger by filling the toilet or sink with water and then rapidly stroke the toilet plunger up and down in the water. This is considerably more effective than just trying to force the obstruction down with the plunger.

I use a gallo g u n on condenser drain lines. But I don't know if I'd use pressure on a larger drain.
