John Deere 4610 4x4
I'm new to the forum...just bought 15 acres of land and a JD 4610 (4x4 fel). I need to clear the land. It's a pine plantation about 18 years old. I won't be clear cutting just cleaning up for a house place. What brush cutter should I be looking for? Most of the stuff I'll be cutting is 3" or smaller around the pines?
The 4610 is 43hp 37@the PTO

If you just use a cutter, you will end up with stubs sticking up, not a very nice home environment and not one easy to keep mowed.

I had a situation like yours years ago although the trees were a bit bigger (4-5") and were red maple. I cut them off a couple of feet high with a chain saw, then used the ripper teeth on a box blade to pull the stumps. Some were harder and I used a single big tooth ripper attachment. I probably should have cut them off shorter, more like 6-12" high.

That's all I had for equipment back then. Now I would recommend a backhoe (rent one if you need to) to do the work.
