Good question, the wife has been trying to find the history of the property.

There is also remnants of an old barn and outhouse on the property, along with a graveyard with a stone wall around it with dates in the 1800s. I've also found bricks and a concrete structure half buried in the pasture.

I don't think the structure in the pic was the main house, more likely slave/worker house as it's a couple hundred yards from the area that I think was the original homestead.

odd thing is there is also a dilapidated metal shed next to that shack that looks like something from the 70's
If the land abstract still exists,(or is recorded with the county recorders office) it is a history of owners from the time of government land grants to the previous owner. The current owner is added after they sell.

The rule of logging calls for a tree girth to be measured at 5' above ground. You're about right at your height.
