Glad I bought the loader. This deck is heavy. The deck will clear the ground with a foot to spare with the loader fully extended. I've got to get a power washer. It never ends.

Jimmo,

When I lift my deck with the FEL I usually lift it from the wide end. This way you can get it higher and then when working on it everything is more on the same level. Also you can lift it so the bottom side is facing away from the tractor making it easier to work on.

Just a note for you

Thanks Murph, thats sounds a lot easier. I'll try that next time.

Pallet forks are also good for working under a mower - put the forks under it, roll it gently back, and lift it to a comfortable working height.

I tried a coating on the 54" deck of my x595 last summer. It is a graphite loaded acrylic that is quite resilient. The intent is to prevent the cuttings, which are usually a mixture of grass, dirt, and moisture, from forming a tough build-up. This crud can be really hard to remove. Long-term, it accelerates the rusting of the deck.
Anyway, the coating works well, but gets worn off by cuttings, sticks, rocks, etc from the very areas you want protected the most.
Power-washer -- haven't tried that yet.

I have a similar rig to yours. My solution to both transport of the MMM deck and lifting for cleaning has been to use two chains of about three foot length each with three slip hooks spaced so that the center hook can attach to the side edge of the loader bucket and the two end hooks attach to the reinforced corners of the mower deck. I can hook it up in less than a minute raise the mower to the full height of the loader (minus about 6") clean underneath with a hose with a suicide nozzle and then move the mmm to a convenient storage location using the FEL. When I need the MMM again I use the same hook up to move it from storage to a convenient installation site. This system not only allows easy cleaning it also beats trying to manhandle the mmm to and from storage.
