Cleaning eyeglasses, why is there only one good way?

I bought two lens cleaning stations from the local safety supply company. I keep one in my garage and one in my basement workshop. I have had them several years and haven't ran out of tissues or cleaner. At less than $20 each I thing they were well worth the investment.

How long has eyeglasses been around, and still there's only one good way to clean them that works everytime, dish soap and running water. I dont have running water in my garage so I rely my shirt tails, rags, sprays, this that and the other thing, till it come's to point where I have to walk back in the house, track some mud in, wife hollers at me, grab the Dawn dish soap, rub a dub dub, then run the water over my, by-polymer prescription safety glasses, wipe with tissue or microfiber cloth, and wah-la, clean eyeglasses, go back out in the garage and try to remember what I was doing........so how do you clean your eyeglasses?

Best eyeglass cleaner was some I got at the eyeglass place probably less than a year before I had DSEKs in both eyes. Don't need now, even to read.

Still use the little spray bottle and special cleaner rag for my sunglasses every so often.

I still use my inside of cotton shirt once in a while when in a pinch but mostly for a good enough ok clean, Peeps do a pretty good job when working around cutting boards, they have a soft brush to get the sawdust off the lens and some sort of pad thing to wipe the lens clean, next best thing to soap and water...

A little dish soap with hot water. I usually "borrow" a length of tp from a restroom. No lint on this stuff.

I bought Ultra Clarity Eyeglass and it worth buying. Great product! I spray some on my glasses after I wash them with liquid soap. It makes the lenses sparkly smooth and the finish looks so clear & clean.

I have spray bottle of rubbing alcohol in the shop and the kitchen. You're not supposed to use a paper towels, but I do and works fine. After you clean them good with the rubbing alcohol, you have to dry them well

or it will leave a haze on the lens. I've been doing this for years. I have some great lens cleaner, but if you get some on your hand and then your mouth it's horrible tasting. I know don't put it in your mouth, but

I can't help it.

After my cataract surgery, all I need is +1.75 reading glasses. I have a pair for the shop and a pair for the house. An extra pair in the truck and a pair in the car. I clean mine with a hot breath and a microfiber towel. I know you're not supposed to but the shop pair get a drenching in Windex on occasion before toweling. If they go bad, I can get another pair for $3-$4. And they come with a new case I can use to hold machine tooling.

I just turned 70. I don't need glasses to last forever.
