I just got a diesel tank on a stand (second hand) and would like to know if anyone out in TBN land knows of a good way to clean it out so I can be sure its safe to feed my tractor. I don't want to give my tractor food poisoning. Thanks

There may be a better way but i use water and purple power degreaser from walmart. This way i can reaally flush it.good. After i am done i set the tank in the sun with he cap off until it dries. You could also rinse it with alcohol if there is a shortage of sun.

Thanks strum, I haven't heard of that product down here(Australia) but I suppose any kind of degreaser would work? Will that clean all impurities out or just oil/petrochemical stuff? Any alcohol I find around here gets used for other purposes if you know what I mean(purely medicinal ;) )

A good filter will take care of anything in a used fuel barrel. Other barrels, not so much.

Thanks Rsewill, it took me a while but I assume the "other barrels" are the ones my liver filters?

I just picked up a 10 micron filter from the farm store for around 32 bucks. Will mount into the 3/4 npt threads on the end of the tank with a pipe nipple. I think it was golden rod brand. 495 Fuel Filter I picked up a 275 gallon tank plus over 100 gallons of fuel for free a few weeks ago, and that is what I am starting to use.
