I registered with classmates.com a couple years ago, never sent them any money, just gave my name, school, years & e-mail address. Now I got an e-mail saying some of my former classmates wanted to look at my profile, so I should fill it out. I got this questionair that started outsimple enough, how many kids, what kind of car I drive, then it started on my household income, political views and at that point I quit. Thats none of anybody's business that I don't personally know and want to have that kind of information, even if I was intimate with them 30 years ago. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Next thing you know they'll want to know about my sex life! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You are not forced to answer every question. Just fill out what you feel comfortable with.

I agree. Just fill out the ones you want and forget about the rest. Some like to tell all, others don't.

You can bet on two things by doing that:

Someone will sell that information
and someone will buy that information.

Hobbyfarm,
You have it figured out, that site is just a data mining site.

That may be true to some extent, but I have never had a problem with it since I registered a couple years ago. And I have received some e-mails from long lost friends. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Also received some news about former classmates that have passed away. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Well Bill, Maybe it is not just a data mining site. However when I went to the site a year or so ago it had no students from my school in there. So apparently all the logins are supposed to build their database for them.

Are you sure you had the correct State and Town? I know that there are quite a few school names that are the same all over the US. Just a thought.

Ben - That is quite a surprise. There are 48 members of my graduating class of about 130 that are registered. I don't remember having to do anything special to get access to that list. I graduated in 1964 (telling my age /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) in small town Texas. Maybe it varies a lot by locale and/or time since graduation.

You can get a list of students for FREE. If you want to email someone directly, plus look at more details of someone's profile, you need to pay for a full-membership.

There are 112 members from my graduating class on there.
