Just curious. I'm considering it. I read the government convenience store (ATF) website FAQ's and know the procedures. I also talked to my local Class III dealer. It doesn't sound any more complicated than when I got my FL CCW, but still, a bureaucrapical pain in the 180, but a necessary one I reckon.

Prices are through the roof and like ammo, expected to go higher. I really want one, for no other reason than just to say I was in before the lock, which, I feel will happen.

Listen, I don't want this thread to become a p'ing match over the second amendment. I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience and maybe (if you don't mind saying) what you bought.

Also, I couldn't find anything on the website regarding firing it. It mentioned ANY transporting requiring a form "something or other" to give the ATF a head's up. I wouldn't want a local yocal to show up while I was out cutting down trees and him have a hissy and come to find out I needed some special form to fire it.

I'm receptive to suggestions.

Thanks:) ,

If you have a class III dealer nearby, that's the best source of info. The big catch is make sure you have a law enforcement official that will sign off the form 4 for you or you cannot go any futher.

You don't have to have a form to transport in state. You have to fill out and request approval to transport the weapon to another state(form 5320)-only for a short time not permanent.

I had over 10 at one time, but since I 3x or 4x the money I sold them all.
thanks

If you form a corporation you don't need a sign off from local law enforcement officer. The Corp owns the weapon, or suppressor depending on state. Some states allow full autos while others don't. Some allow supressors while others don't.

And chief law enforcement officer can be Police Chief, Sheriff, Judge etc. If LEOs are reasonable, that's the cheapest route as you save incorporation fees and paperwork. I'm not certain, but a corporation may allow more leeway as to who actually has use of the weapon.

You can generally allow your buddy to borrow your AR-15, but not your full auto Uzi!

As mentioned, your Class III dealer should know all the ins and outs of the process.

good luck.. I would love to have a suppressor for my AR15..

I am too cheap to even dream about buying a machine gun.. BUT if the ban is ever lifted and prices drop by thousands (actually tens of thousands) of dollars, I would buy one (actually invest).

What kind of machine gun are you looking for that cost "thousands upon thousands" of dollars?

A M16 runs ~$16,000 IIRC from posts on AR15.com... the cheaper stuff is still $10k or so - this is for like Uzis..

It appears I was a little off on the prices.. from this link

http://www.machinegunprices.com/html/machine_guns.html

a M16A2 runs $19 to 20k, a M16A1 (not sure what the difference is right off) is in the $16k range..

Basically anything Class III that fires!

It's amazing how much they've gone up since the mid 80's. Being that I wasn't in the market (until now), I had lost touch with just how much they have appreciated in price.

I'm not looking for a 50k M60 and it seems now that I won't be in the market for a 14-20k M16 either.

There are some nice Uzi's, Mac's and Stens out there that are easy to trick up, quiet down and shoot cheap ammo through that aren't in the price ranges above.
