Buying Advice CK4010 Purchase-Am I crazy?

I was looking into a 50" grapple at EA and the prices where good except I live in Canada and it would cost me a fortune to get one there. Can't seem to find anything in Canada. Any Canucks out there know where to get one at a decent price in Ontario. I will phone my Kioti dealer and see what they can get.

If you live near the US border, couldn't you have EA ship it to a commercial facility near the border and then just go pick it up?

It is not that easy as I live 3+ hours from the border and then it would have to get cleared at the border. I would have pay duty,taxes etc etc. No big hurry to get one yet. I will continue to look in Canada and see what I can find. Thanks

I don't have that much use for a grapple right now to justify the cost, and my local rental house charges $58 a day. I figure I could try one out to see how I like it and see if using the rear remote is tolerable or if I want to put the extra outlay for a true 3rd function valve on the loader. I figure $58 is a pretty cheap test to see if I eventually want to spend $2-3K.

I never thought about an extra hydraulic outlay to operate the grapple. I already have four on the front for the loader but then I would need an extra somewhere to operate the grapple jaws. Thanks for mentioning

I thought NAFTA meant there was not longer duty on items produced in North America.

Your rental place most likely has only skidsteer grapples. Those are likely to be wider than you want and certainly heavier. Might give you a distorted picture of what a lightweight CUT type grapple is capable of. You want something like the 48" lightduty I have on my avatar photo.

It is a Bobcat rental store, and I specifically asked for a 48" and they have them. I think they are used for the walk-behind and smaller skid steer units.

That's what you want. Just make sure it is a standard SSQA mount. Some of those Dingo things have smaller quick attach plates.
