Too late now but I thought you might have been able to get the crack welded and re-tapped.

I kept the old one bunyip and will take it somewhere and see if it is possible. As a mechanic, I am not sure that repair will be possible.

The cooler is not much more than a version of a vehicle radiator. I would think a good radiator shop could fix it. I've had a couple radiators fixed here, brass and aluminum, and they were fixed better than new.

It is the aluminium fitting that is the problem. A radiator shop wouldnt touch it. It is also high pressure.
