Oil & Fuel CK30 HST - No Power after 30 minutes under load

In addition th the diaphragm, the lift pump also has a couple flap-type check valves that can be disabled by debris. It sounds like the lift pump isn't pushing enough fuel. You could get a gauge to measure pressure and a measuring cup to measure flow. If it were me, I'd first disassemble the old lift pump and look for obvious damage or fouling, If you screw it up, a replacement (or find unfixable damage) a lift pump is only about $50.

Hi folks. I tried to post yesterday but I made a disparaging remark about a certain cheap tool company and it must have been deleted.

Anyway, I bough a $12 fuel pump tester to check the lift pump or fuel feed pump as Kioti calls it. AS I was looking at the hoses to pull for the test, I decided to go ahead and start the tractor and take it for a spin. Since the field mower (brush hog) was on the tractor I decided to mow a little. I wound up mowing one light grass field for 30 minutes and a moderate tall field with a steep climb on it for another 30 minutes. I has no trouble what so ever! I am not sure if my fiddling with the hose dislodged something in the lines or not but the tractor worked fine. Last time I used it I barely made it back to the barn with no PTO engaged. At this point I am going to just keep using the tractor periodically and see how things go.

I do have a question on the lift pump. Can the six Phillips head screws be removed to get at the innards and clean the pump rather than removing the nuts that attach it to the main engine?

Thanks for those of you who made suggestions. I learned a lot.

Ed

I haven't had one apart or seen a diagram of the pumps insides. The six screws would definately get you into the insides of the pump. If it's style is like older fuel/gasoline pumps on older cars and trucks with carburators, then you should be good. It might just be easier to remove it and have it on a workbench though.
