Hey kioti people can anyone help I purchased a new CK20HST and got it home loved the way it mowed but when I went to pull the steep grade the tractor would not move. Note it did not bog down the hydro would not move and yes I was in low range. I contacted the dealer and he came to pick it up and stated that is should easily go up any hill if the hill was too step then it should spin out it will not spin. He took it back to the shop and pressured tested it and it tested at 4000lb of pressure but he did not place it into a incline situation to pressure test and kioti is saying it tests to specs. Now he want me to add more money and go with a CK25 gear. Should I demand a new hydro or change tractors I am not sure now that I want a kioti any of you have any experience with the ck20hst. Oh I did say that I would just get a full refund but dealer is refusing to refund money by the way there is only 7 hours on the tractor. Any advice.

Get a new dealer!

I have accidentally climbed up the vertical surface of a rock until the rear tires hit it while pushing over a tree. A slope of any grade should not be a problem. If you are running at least 2000rpms, in low gear, clutch not depressed and there is no load on the motor when you push the HST pedal then something is wrong.

Does it move on a flat surface, high and low gear?

I don't live but about 45 min from you,I bought mine down below lewisburg, where did you buy yours?[you don't have to name the dealer, just say where]

I've heard things about the hst tractors like what your saying, but than others have said no problems, maybe they don't know what a hill is?

This is one reason I wouldn't buy a hst tractor of any make, too much of this vodoo stuff. You got a gear tractor, and it won't go,you can pinpoint it pretty quick.

get ahold of kioti corperation,don't know the number,might be on their web page or owners manual,play it cool for awhile if you can,let them get back to you,open a line of talk with them before you make anybody too mad[yeah I know,easier said than done,right?}

what all do you have on the tractor[loader or hoe?]

7 hours and he wouldn't take it back, mine had I think 4-5 hours on it when I bought it[I think],that woulda been the thing to do if he was wanting to do the right thing.Of course he don't have to_Ones thing is for sure,I wouldn't give him one more penny.

I got a ck30 gear and only got about 65 hours, but am very satisfied so far[plus it goes up and down my hills with no problems, plenty of power.

Yea I've had those problems with my CK20HST would'nt pull up a grade with a 4ft bush hog. Ended up getting a new hydro unit at about 30 hrs. My dealer now out of business was very good, would not give my tractor back until he was sure it was right, only down side was he had it about six weeks.

The CK20 HST has trouble going up hills in high range with any load but I never had trouble going up a 15 degree slope with a backhoe mounted when in low range. I could also run a bush hog going up that same slope without any issue in low range.

Is the CK20 a new model (CK20S)? I recall there were some issues with early CK20 HST units but believe that issue was resolved several years ago.

Talk to Kioti customer service if your dealer is not helpful.

Some years ago a fellow had an HST tractor of a different make stuck in an incline situation. He found the HST fluid level was too low.:D

The dealer has to make it right. So, if you don't want to spend more on the CK25, then stay on him to fix it. If it means a new tranny, then so be it. He doesn't have to give you refund, but he has to fix it.

When you were on the hill and it wouldn't move, did it make any noise while trying? If so, this is a sign that the relief valve was kicking in. Would it go backwards, down the hill? I'd say you just got a bad tranny. Once it's fixed you'll be very pleased with your tractor purchase. Not fun though to be without your brand new toy while the dealer messes around trying to resolve it.

Something is not right. Your tractor should go up that grade. Like the guys say, what sounds did you hear (no bogging but was it doing anything else).

If I am in hi range with a heavy load behind my HST will just "sit there" on a grade till I down shift. In low you should go go go.

The dealer sounds like a less than ideal fellow.

Yeah that must be it, those with no HST problems must be idiots who don't know what a hill is.

I would know the grade limit for my HST but my pucker meter stops me before the HST does.

I have a CK30hst with three speed ranges and not the CK20hst, so I can only attest to my little brute. The high range is mainly for travelling, medium for most work, and low for when you really need power. In low 4wd, I can spin the R4 tires on pavement with fl and bh on if I come to something that is just to much for the tractor.
There are earlier posts, about a year ago, where members had no power from their CK30hst. I do remember one had the relief valve adjusted and one had a new tranny installed. I suspect Madd macc has a similar problem.
And like Dmace, the pucker factor kicks in before the tractor stops moving but everyone's limit is different, so I'll just say the front gets light going up hill. I stay away from that as much as I can because I don't want to see if the ROPS works.
