HST is typically faster to learn WELL, allows you to manuver in and out of places faster and safer, is safer on hills, and is better for anyone new to tractors. And anyone who has played with tractors for a long time can argue the other way, but many on this forum who have been around for a while and grew up with tractors will say that on the CUTs getting it with HST is the best way to go. Like I said, there are people who debate it, some even argue the point, but HST is a wonderful thing, sort of like using a computer with a spell checker to type a letter versus using an old manual typewriter. I can use either, but one is a heck of a lot better. Just my 2 cents.

I can't agree more. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I just came off a gear drive that I used for 5 years. I moved into a TC-40D which is an HST. This is the easiest transmission that I have ever dealt with. Two pedals, one for foward, one for reverse. The further down you press them the faster you travel. Need lower speed but more power, just come off the pedal a bit. Some HSTs also offer cruise in forward and reverse its another plus and it really comes in handy. You should at least try it before you make a final choice.

Paul, what will be your new site address?

I hate to see you have to part ways with Kioti, but fully understand your reasons. Their offer for your site doesn't even begin to cover the hosting and domain registration fees, let alone the development costs. When you add in the customer confusion when they go to find you and they can't, the damages to your business are astonomical.

You've always stood behind the companies you work with and Branson will gain a strong asset. We spoke with Mark last month and he is very excited to see you coming on board with them. Said he enjoyed the Moonlight Barbecue too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Paul, Interesting information. After countless hours of soaking up info on TBN I had planned to go with Kioti when I get home. Now, I am not at all sure that I care to deal with a company that appears to have little respect for those who helped them grow. I wonder how they treat their customers??Maybr I should be looking at Blue or Green.

I hardly think that this should be enough to make you switch but if you want to pay a lot more and get less than by all means do so.I have no problems with my Kioti and you'll find few ,very few if any that do. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

As a consumer looking from the outside in, I have thought it a bit peculiar that 'kioti.com' did not take me directly to the 'Official Website of Kioti Tractor'. I think it was an advantageous situation for a dealer to be able to hang the 'kioti.com' moniker on his door-step. I would think most people going to 'kioti.com' expect to land at the 'Official Kioti website' but instead landed at this dealer. So it would appear to me, to have exclusive access to 'kioti.com' these past years, was of great benefit to this dealer, channeled a lot of traffic his way and he has profited by this association. I make these statements speaking generally. I have no knowledge of the agreements this dealer had with Kioti and make these statements only as on outside consumer looking in...

Lowball you may want to contact Mr Nissan at Nissan.com he ran a website that sold PC parts and ran into the same problem with the Nissan corp. He fought them and I unsure as to the specific outcome, but the website gives a clue as to what may have happened.

Personally, I like Kioti and even have a CK20 HST TLB on order. Even if a big business runs the little guy out, I figure it's survival of the fittest. However, a parent company slapping around one of it's best producing outlets by taking their website without proper reimbursement is just plain wrong. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Paid $12400 for CK20 HST, FEL w/48", industrial tires, via internet from Rivera's in Tx last July. Shipping to So. Calif. was $840.......about the same as local tax would have been. Could not find one in CA or AZ at the time so price reflected limited availability and they knew that. I've seen it listed $1K less since then but I needed it when I got it and could not be happier with its performance........one tough little guy.

Don,

That is exactly right!

When I first started looking at Kioti, I went to Kioti.com to find the "official" web site. What I found definitely was not the web site. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm shocked that it did not happen a long time ago. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

This will probably start a war and that is not my intention.. However, I agree that the Kioti U.S. divisional office had to do soemthing to stop confusion, betwwen Kioti tractor and Kioti.com.. What I don't agree with (if the figures posted earlier are accurate) is to pay that particular dealer 200. for his original .com name. I had a military helicopter web site 8 years. Gave it up for a multitude of reasons, but, when I started my site in late 94 early 95, costs to design and maintain a web site were astronomical compared to todays costs. When I gave up my site, actually turning it over to a new group and for nada in monies, I had then, 20 times what Kioti offered this guy. I think it awful that Kioti home office would offer a person 200.00 where they probably have 4500.00 invested. That surely shows no class or support on Kioti's part for a dealer. If I was that dealer and in his shoes, I'd throw Kioti out myself and not speak highly ever again about their products. Again, I do agree they had to stop confusion. I think by the sounds of it, they may have created bigger problems that easily could have been avoided of they were more honest and not sheap about one persons web page.

Confusing it was,I did the same thing as RedDog when I first looked into Kioti tractors,I kept going to the other site.I didn't bookmark it and kept going to the dealers site the first few times.I too am surprised Kioti didn't do something sooner.200.00 seems like a small amount but I don't know anything about that stuff, but there's no doubt the dealer made out through the years with the web name he chose.

I believe this was a new blanket policy change. Others have spoke about it in this thread. I don't see the signaling out of one persons website. This particular website is on the forfront because it's 'Kioti'. IMO

Yes it does cost a lot to create a website! But it doesn't cost hardly anything for a domain name, and to simply change your name to something else is really quite cheap. I had a domain name that had the word Kioti it in. I then changed my domain name to the name of my business, cost me $30. Had them copy all the index files from one domain to the next and put up an explanation on the old domain name site with the link to my new site and the official site. It was quite easy. So i think that 200 is quite enough, and im sure Kioti would have let him leave up his old domain name "kioti.com" for a period of time if the page had a link to his new site and the offical site. I don't know... i guess im the only one that feels this way. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The www.kiotiparts.com was an ancillary domain name to Kioti USA. The idea was to get the jewel, www.kioti.com so they did not want it to seem as if www.kioti.co was the only thing they wanted. Yes, www.kioti.com caused confusion for Kioti USA but kioti.com was legally purchased and O'Bryan established ownership.
Kiotikountry.com and kiotiparts.com are not the primary targets and would not cause confusion as www.kioti.com. Kioti.com will become the home of Kioti USA and or auto directed to kiotitractor.com. You have said that O'Bryan could keep the site as a dead site and even if he could this would constitute loss of use. Just as if a powerline has a ride-of-way through property they have to purchase those rights from the landowner. Just because other parties settle for lesser amounts does not mean O'Bryan should settle for the same amount.

/ CK20 Price Check #36
So why should he get more than i should on this, everyone got offered the same amount. There were other sites out there too like www.kioti-tractors.com, and if you go to that you can see what he should have just done. i legally purchased my site too. Anyways that still doesn't have to do with the fact that of what i said. He could have left kioti.com up and had a link to his new site. How hard is that? Kioti didn't make him take the $200 for his site. they offered it. He just had to comply to there new policy. Sure he could have just hung on to the domain name as he does own it, was not forced to sell. We still own ours, we didn't sell it. Anyways this is my last post on this topic, it seems to be getting out of hand. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Whenever you take the name of a corporation as your website, you have to realize, it is a honeymoon type situation. Meaning it won't last forever. At some point in time the corporation is going to want to use that website for the greater good of the company, all it's dealers, and in the end, the consumer. It was a smooth move, even smart of this dealer to be first out of the box to claim the web site. But, it just stands to reason, at some point in time the company would want to use this as their web site. I would consider this dealer fortunate that he was able to use xxxxx.com as long as he did. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail.

It is Kioti's loss not O'Bryan's loss. Maybe Hopewell Enterprises of Canmer,Ky can fill the void that was left when they canceled O'Bryan's. Realize Kioti left all their customers in that O'Bryan trade area without parts and service. One has to wonder just how much Kioti cares about their customers.
