I will be picking up the blower this week. The dealer is quite a distance from my home so it's really not practical to bring my tractor to him, although that would have been my first choice. The PTO will apparently need to be shortened. He said I would be okay if I had 21 " from the back of the shaft to the 3 point arms. I leveled the 3 pt arms and placed a dowel in and measured 19 and an 1/8".

Would like to hear from those who have this combination about shortening the PTO shaft.

Also would welcome any advise that will make installation and use as painless as possible.

Thanks

Don,

Thanks very much. That is a very concise explanation that will help me if for some reason the dealer can't do the cutting based on the information I provided him.

See our reply in your other post. Meteor recommends 20pto hp for the 60" blower. You can probably run it, but will have to operate a little slower than you may have expected. We sometimes put a 60" blower on the CK20S, since it has about 2 addtional pto hp.

I have a CK-20 HST (s) and a meteor 60". The dealer had my shaft all cut too size on my rig. I see the procedure is pretty well laid out in the Martin Meteor Owner''s manual as well. Seems like it is not necessarily too precise a fit due to it's telescoping nature of the shaft. Make sure you break the shaft down frequently and see to it the inner protective plastic shaft stays greased . The tractor and blower seem to play nice together and I have moved tons of snow with the rig.

Don't worry your CK20HST will handle it just fine.
I run a 60" Smyth blower and my 20 will go thru 8" of med ium weight snow full width and almost full speed in reverse. Deeper or wetter ,I just slow down if she starts to drop RPMs, if its really heavy or wet, Like roadside slush then I just take a smaller cut.
Good luck and have fun.
ps; always try to have the wind behind you/ or blow in the direction of down wind. If you don't you'll figure out what I mean real quick! Frosty!

A huge thanks to all who took the time to respond.
It's reassuring to hear that I shouldn't be getting myself into too much difficulty.

A special note of thanks to MichiganIron responding in my other post as well. I had asked the selling dealer about the horsepower issue as well as a Kioti dealer in the region and neither gave me any caution regarding the HP issue.

Had I had my choice, I would have gone with a slightly smaller unit. Unfortunately dealer in the area I live are few and far between and do not stock a large inventory.
On the plus, side I usually tend to go easy on equipment so I don't think I'll push it too hard.

Was out for my first time today blowing snow with my CK 20 and a 54" Puma blower. I was looking for the deepest snow I could find and it never once slowed down the engine idle at all !!!!:)

I also have a ck20 & a 60" meteor blower and find it works quite well together if the snow is real heavy just go a little slower and after the first cut take a little less next time.

And no chains on that buggy! How was your traction in all that snow?
