Kioti CK30
Spent a little time in the shop over the holidays modding the Kioti. Added some work lights and an "upgrade" toolbox, it's even lockable. The old ammo can worked out perfectly, fits nicely between seat and SMV sign bracket. I can now carry more than a pair of gloves! Seat even fully reclines w/o hitting. Mounted it in same manner as OEM w/ two bolts through bottom, had to acquire longer ones for this. Also added rubber buffer around bottom lip(old air hose) for more secure fit and no scuffing. I posted more on the lighting in a more appropriate thread.

Happy New Year Kioti fans and anyone else who passes through here.:D

I was able to use U Bolts for securing my bar that they bent for me at a local auto leaf spring shop---I think it was out of 3/8 fine thread stock with washers and locknuts.
I used 1/4 inch bar stock drilled for the bolts for the underside to hold bar.
My bar was made out of that electrical channel they use to secure conduit, etc. It is predrilled making it easy to mount lights.
Good idea to run a dedicated ground also since ROPS is hinged and not "tight".

Will try to get some close ups today. But I think I like pheesh & TractorLegend's setup a little better using a the separate square stock to mount lights on. I also did not use that fancy wire sheathing, just secured my hot lead to ROP on backside. Figured I could do that later if I wanted, but am trying to decide whether I want something sticking out that far, my wire lays flat against the bar at this point. But I still prefer to face my Ubolts down, don't want any "catchers" sticking up. My Ubolts are 4"ers, 3" would fit, but I wanted to install hose over the bolts to eliminate metal to metal contact. 3"ers may still work with smaller hose, like old air hose which I have a quantity of.

I did not actually run a dedicated ground wire, I grounded directly to ROP bar, checked continuity with meter it checked out fine. I mounted my lights off 90 degrees(sideways), trapezoid beams, to get more vertically projected light. The beams hit the ground near bucket and project up slightly higher than ROPs which should work better for FEL work in the dark I would think. I'll have to play with it in the dark a little more to see how I like it. I may readdress the setup a bit looking at what others came up with. I was a little rushed putting it together expecting a big snow storm, that never really materalized(darned weathermen) figured I'd be out there in the dark pushing the white stuff.

Added pics. Mine stick down lower, but I can swivel out to sides and they will spin all the way to the rear as well, though I do have designs on adding dedicated rear facing at some point(another reason I may adapt the others' setup with separate horizontal bar). I didn't paint my brackets to match like others either :( and I was feeling so good about getting this done......

I like the way that the lights are attached better than the way I did mine. Very professional and solid.

Yeah, but before the work lights I had to assist the neighbor move some round bales. Needless to say I couldn't see feces with the headlights back splashing in my face off the bale. A little hairy... Had to turn 'em off and go by "feel". Besides any excuse to jump in the seat, day or night, is a good thing, right? Plus usually my snow moving duties are accomplished after dusk or before sun up.

I have a rear facing light to add, maybe this weekend. Then I can see where I'm going in reverse.:D

I have a high mounted cyclops pointing aft for just that---back up/ night work/ night prowling...etc.
With two 50 watters pointing fore and one aft you can do about anything you do in daylight.

Where did you pull the power from for the lights Direct from the Battery? From the connections behind/below the seat? If so, did adding a fuse make those leads hot? What about a switch?

Thanks,

I had a more detailed post on the lights setup w/pics, will try to locate. I pulled power from the fuse box under the right side of the dash and located the switch on the lower right side(under hand throttle).

I thought about using one of the two power connections under rear cowling(under toolbox). One got hot with reverse and I can't remember why I didn't like the other one for the worklights......

Will try to dig up that old thread for the particulars(it might answer your questions better than my foggy brain this morn). ;)

edit; found one of the older threads for your reading pleasure.....

I am interested in your toolbox upgrade as I too would like to carry more than my gloves.I have some new ammo boxes but think I would like a stretched version and I have seen them. What are the dimensions of your new toolbox? Nice job on the lights and toolbox by the way. Eldon

It's an older style .30 cal ammo can w/built in lock hasp. Will post a couple close ups with measurements tomorrow if you like. I was going to go with a .50 cal can (I have plenty of both) but it did not fit in the original location w/o removing the SMV sign and allow the seat it's full range of motion. The stretched version of the slim .30 could probably work, if it's what I think it is(same width but longer in the hinge to latch dimension). I don't have one of those, but if it works I might have to track one down.......
