Just bought a used CK 20HST with 600 hours on it. Will be using it for hauling wood from the bush and snow blowing. Never owned a tractor before and am wondering what the best way to engage and run the PTO for the blower. May sound dumb but would rather ask now than be sorry later. The Tractor starts and runs great and would like to keep it that way....Thanks in advance

I don't even think I understand the question. I would buy a manual ASAP. If you are talking about a snow blower you hook up the blower and start the PTO slowly working it up to the correct speed for the blower.. start out slow, few seconds, and work your way up the PTO RPM range. All in your manual that your going to want to get.

Better yet seek out a local farmer and ask them if they would give you some pointers on tractor operation. Most I know would spend a few minutes doing that if you are their neighbor.

I have a CK20 HST also. You have to use the clutch on the left side of the tractor depress the clutch pedal and engage the pto and let the clutch out easy till it is fully engaged. I run a 5 foot finish mower and start it at about idle and keep bumping up the rpms till I get it to 2650 then to stop the attachment i slow the rpms down to idle push the clutch and disengage the pto

I put the clucth in and let it out around 1500 rpms. My blower slowly gets spinning and i throttle up then. For off, most times i just disconnect the pto without using the clutch. I do throttle down first.

If you happen to use the clutch while power tskeoff drives the blower you are bound to hear a bunch of rackety clanking. You didnt just miss a gear and strip that tranny......no, dont worry about that it is supposed to do that. The sound is synchros going to work as they are supposed to.

Like most have mentioned once the blower is engaged then you raise your rpm to the fullest. My CK30 as spot on the speedometer that goes up to 2400 rpm when operating my front mounted snow blower and will not go any higher and I guess for safety reasons.
