City kids do not leave keys in vehicles. . . It’s different out here...

We are seeing crime here for the last two years. Mostly in town store parking lots.
I don't leave keys in equipment as we have kids in the neighborhood and I just think safety first.
About a mile away a very large expensive house was ransacked, police think the house was being watched for a while. Sad.
Still an extremely safe place, just each crime is pretty noticeable compared to pre-uknowwhat zero crime.

On our side of town, everyone locks their cars when they go in the grocery store. Nothing in the truck beds of value. Nothing in plain view in the cabins.

Then I go over to what we call the Gucci Grocery Store on the other side of the county, and people leave tools in the truck beds, purses laying on the seats, windows down, etc. It's a different world over there.

This is how it is here for the most part, although there were a lot of cat converters getting stolen for a while. Occasionally there is something else... a few years ago the general store a few towns away was broken into... they smashed through the plate glass door and did more damage than they stole. They were caught on camera trying to steal the cash register but the picture was so poor that all you could tell is it was a man and a woman. More recently that same store had some firewood stolen... they sell it by the tote and somebody hooked a chain onto one and dragged it down the road a couple of miles before finally stopping and apparently loading it onto something.
I was going up through the next day and noticed the trail of firewood...

Had to put locking gas caps on all the people movers, best guess kids looking for fuel for their 4 wheelers.

I remember during the oil embargo back in the 70's people started selling locking gas caps. They were almost unheard of before that.

Yep or the coiled spring in fill pipe...

It definitely was a thing and hit just about all.

Dad's friend owned the local mechanic garage and they had a rash of fuel tank sender repairs... seems syphoning some models could nail the float...

Thefts up so grocery stores now security guard is standard plus every isle has locking display cases of high theft items...

Many chain auxillary entrances to limit egress... especially late in the day...

City kids (Millennial's) have not a clue on how to drive tractor or stick shifts.... Pretty safe to leave keys in tractors or stick shift vehicles.... Just not cars with auto-trans...

Old farts still think Millenials are kids. Millenials include 40 year olds. The future is now old man!

This city millenial leaves his key in too. Just put my stick shift car up for sale, wonder if I can even sell it.
