Choke problem

Anyone have a problem with the choke on a 653 cc Subaru engine. American Landmaster BD 700. Choke mechanically functions but will not kill engine or help with starting.

Welcome to TBN. This doesn't have the little spring loaded choke controller, does it? Where as the plate opens as it cranks? Runs good otherwise?

Does the choke actually function or does the lever just move? Pull the air cleaner and see if moving the lever actually moves the choke plate. You could have a clamp slipping on the cable or linkage. Oh, and welcome to TBN.
