CHINESE BULLDOZER HISTORY

When I was stationed at Ft. Lewis in the early 80's I came across a guy in Tacoma who had imported some Chinese bulldozers- they were actually tracked tractors. He was in the process of modifying one with a ROPS canopy and 6 way blade. Over the next few years they made a number of changes by lengthening the tracks and adding a reverser. They sold them under the name of Powertrack. I sort of lost touch after I was posted overseas, but I think he is the same guy who invented the 3 in 1 lathe - mill machines.

Very interesting about the dozer..............
But the 3-in-1 has been around for an awfully long time, under various brand names. I think I remember an ad in Mechanic's Illustrated back in the '40's for the "Unimat".

Yeah- that looks like the machine- they must be fairly good, since the one for sale is nearly 20 years old. Doesn't look like the design has changed much since the guy built the first one 25 years ago. As far as the lathes go, I was referring to the Chinese made 3 in1 which has become a sort of industry standard- sold by Grizzly, Smithy etc.

I believe those machines were manufactured by Guilin, which was later purchased by Yuchai. They no longer make the two cylinder in that configuration. One of the fellow members of CTOA has one of the two cylinder units and swears by it.
