Nobody dies early......
Face it, risk is a part of life. I saw a lot as a skydiving instructor, pilot, and MC rider... We improve our chances for success by practice and attitude, but the big one only comes when we are due. There is no such thing as an "early death"....

As an avid jogger my obese supervisor told me that that a heart will beat only so many time before it dies and I was decreasing my lifespan by running.

I told him that when you run you get extra "bonus" heartbeats.

Just because you (I) say it doesn't make it true.

People die,all of them.
Some by accident (man made or natural) some by diseases, others of old age
some die young, some old,and everywhere in between.
And than there is wars and murder(random or intentional).....and ...suicide.

Its all about luck how long you will live.;)

My children have all riden with me at some point in time when they are with me i am far more carefull than when they are not i make a point of teaching them the right (and safest) way to go about things

At some point they will be doing every thing for thereselves and if there not shown how then i don't feel i have done my job as a parent

My oldest has got to the point that he would rather not help (and he has just got to the point were he could be really helpfull) But i guess in a couple of years he will be as usefull as he was before sport and other exciting thing got in the way

My 11 year old can operate my excavator as well as most men and has been sat on my knee for prob half the hours the machine has on it

That said accidents happen and they would prob be safer wrapped it cotton wool

But you have to be realistic and they need to become well rounded people

Around here there is more chance of a drug related death or car accident

And i guess that has something to do with the fact that most kids are keep in with nothing in the way of risk or danger then at the first point they are left alone and have to manage to decide something for thereself it all goes wrong

Just remember none of us are going to get out alive but we all need to hang in there as long as we can

I believe your supervisor is correct. Exercise will lower your resting heartbeat. So 1hr of running a day and 23hrs of "rest" 150beat/min*60min = 9,000 + 50beats/min*1380min = 69,000. Total of 78,000beats/day. Average person 70beats/min*1440min = 100,800beats/day. Tell your supervisor that you'll miss him when he's gone.

HA! I knew it was true. Thanks for the mathematical proof.

Don't call other people stupid 'less they walk around behind you and see what you do.

It is easy to poke fun and look down our noses at what other people do, and at times things need to get done while "sitting" with their children.

Take care of your own behaviour. ;)

And any loss of a child or parts of a child is tragic, IMO.

Very well said and I agree.
