Eddie, No way I want a hundred birds. I'm gonna start small and see if the 6-8 will supply me with enough eggs.
I see you didn't build the hens a ladder to the boxes. I guess your birds have no issues flying up to the boxes.

I appreciate all the advise. It will be my first time to have chickens. I'll just have to see how every thing goes.

The picture I posted is from one of my horse stalls. They where taking over that area so I was instructed by my wife to build them a nesting box. Before, we just had a couple of branches up high for the guineas to sleep on, but some of the chickens refused to go into the coop and stayed there instead. Since then I've enclosed the entire stall and now there are four turkeys in there that totally ignore the nesting box.

I have a ramp up to my first nesting box, but they don't use it. They just sort of jump/fly up there.

I use old 5 gal buckets with half of the bottom cut off. I put the open end of the bucket facing the coop and the half open end gets screwed to the back of the coop, below the rear access door. I use one bucket per 3-4 egg layers.
